Hope Howell

Hope B. Howell, Loan Servicing Manager

Hope joined CGS in 2009 and is in charge of CGS’s loan servicing operation, including boarding loans, disbursing funds, recording payments, selling loans on the secondary market, and monthly reporting to Colson Services. Hope will also be responsible for collateral tracking, audit review and problem loans. Hope has an extensive career in banking and finance for forty (40) years with a strong background in management, loan operations, servicing and loan review.

Prior to joining CGS, between 2003 and 2007, Hopel was Vice President of Operations for a conduit loan origination operation which generated and closed over $300 million in commercial real estate and small business loans where she supervised a staff of 12 in the areas of Human Resources, Loan Portfolio Management, Reporting, as well as performing special assignments for the CEO. She oversaw servicing of the portfolio.

During a successful career spanning three decades, Hope held several leading positions at First Volunteer Bank, and the predecessor to SunTrust Bank in Chattanooga where she held the positions of Supervisor of Commercial Loan Operations, Operations Manager, Compliance Officer, Loan Review Officer and others. In these capacities, Hope managed numerous employees and had responsibility and engagement in all areas relevant to loan servicing, reporting, compliance with Federal programs (HMDA), and secondary markets.

She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and also attended courses at Tusculum College, Maryville, TN and Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, TN with concentration in Business Administration and Finance. In addition, she has numerous general study classes with the Tennessee School of Banking, two year program, banking seminars in compliance, loan documentation and financial statement analysis, Omega Consumer Lending and American Institute of Banking.

It just had to get done and we did it!

"The amazing fact is this loan was processed, approved and closed so quickly," said CGS President Gary Griffin.  "We all contributed to get this done in time for the Riverbend Festival.  The boat is docked on the Tennessee River right in the middle of the Festival site and was a tremendous source of revenue for this venture.”  Griffin further stated, “It just had to get done, and we did it!"
